Give-A-Sweater is the idea of Ryan Merenbloom. Started loosely in 2005, the goal was to collect warm clothing items to be given away to those in need who also received support from the Salvation Army Food Services unit in Baltimore Maryland.
Ryan was in the 7th grade then. A one-person effort didn't produce the kinds of results he wanted, so a logo was born, letters printed, and door-to-door Ryan has gone, enlisting family, friends, and neighbors to help in this effort.
Ryan is now a junior at Reservoir High School in Howard County Maryland.
The goal is to replicate Give-A-Sweater across the region and nation. Every city, every town, and every community has citizens who need a hand, and people who can help. That's Ryan's vision and goal.
Give-A-Sweater is 100% volunteer. We will not solicit for nor accept financial donations. Only donations of items, time, labor and love are welcomed.
We are neighbors helping neighbors, thinking globally, acting locally.
Please join us! It'll give you a warm feeling helping others.
